John Roder is Senior Lecturer in the School of Teaching, Learning and Development at the University of Auckland. John spent many years teaching five year olds right through to eighteen year olds. He has been a secondary art teacher and also a principal of a primary school. He is particularly interested in Early Years Education and is currently involved with educators in an early childhood education centre in Auckland, setting up an ICT related project. His interests are in ICT, elearning and the development of a new pedagogy within a socio-cultural perspective.

Satomi Izumi-Taylor teaches courses in early childhood, at the University of Memphis. She has been a preschool and Pre-K teacher in San Francisco, CA for 12 years. Dr. Taylor has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in leading academic journals, three book chapters, and articles regarding infant and toddler development in Japan. Dr. Taylor serves as a manuscript reviewer for International Journal of Early Childhood Education, Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood, He Kupu, eLearning, Tennessee’s Children, and Play Rights.

Erja Rusanen is a lecturer at the Open University in Helsinki where she lectures in the faculty of Behavioral Science. She has been a teacher manager in Early Education and undertaken many research projects in a variety of institutions. She was awarded the Kone Foundation grant in 2007 for writing a book on Attachment Theory and the development of self.

Anne Grey is the Programme Leader for the Early Years Education courses at AUT University. She has been involved in Teacher Education for 12 years. She was previously a supervisor of a community early childhood centre, and a Primary teacher in the junior classes. She believes strongly in the value of teachers reflecting on their practice as a method of continuous improvement and is constantly searching for innovative ways to facilitate this.

Jodi Norton originally trained at New Zealand Tertiary College and worked for 14 months in Tauranga New Zealand’s North Island. There she undertook a research study of the early childhood educators in the community and perception of teachers as carers or educators. Jodi is currently involved with the online pilot program that is being trialled at New Zealand Tertiary College while working at the ABC early years education centre in Newmarket Auckland.
